Cynthia Layne

Cynthia Louise "Mam" Layne, Franklin, 72, of Smithland, Kentucky, passed away on March 30, 2024. She was a devoted wife to Russell Layne "Pap" and a loving mother to Deborah Hughes, Sherry Elliot, RussAnn Stephens, and Russell Layne. Cynthia was also a cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren and great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers and one sister.

Cynthia was known for her dedication to her family, church, and community. She selflessly served others during times of need, especially during floods. Her passion for cooking brought joy to those around her, as she delighted in preparing honeybun cake and other sweets for those she loved. Cynthia had a gift for storytelling, always managing to bring a smile and a laugh to those who listened. Above all, she openly shared her faith, encouraging others to deepen their relationship with the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her father, John A. Franklin, her mother, Vera Louise Franklin, and her brothers, Jerry A. Franklin, John Ray Franklin, and Jeff Franklin.

Friends may visit with the family Tuesday April 2, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Souls Harbor Church in Smithland and 10 a.m. Wednesday April 3, 2024 until funeral hour.  The funeral services to celebrate Cynthia's life, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday April 3, 2024 will be held at Souls Harbor Holiness Church, where she worshipped. Officiating service will be Bro. Shawn Stephens and Bro. Gary Hardesty.  

Interment to follow at Dunn Cemetery, next to Smithland Cemetery, Smithland, Kentucky
