Doug Armstrong, 53, of Smithland, died Friday evening, November 13th, 2015 at Lourdes Hospice Care Center in Paducah. Doug was a lifelong journeyman and worked for Premier Sprinkler Systems of Paducah. He was a member of the National Automatic Sprinkler local union #669, and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Smithland. He loved spending all his spare time with his family because of the great love and affection he had for all.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; two sons, Brandon Joseph Armstrong and wife Alicia Renae of Reidland, and Jonathon Wayne Armstrong of Benton; and one niece, Elizabeth Armstrong of Paducah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Joe and Maddie Modean Dixon Armstrong; and one brother, Donald Leslie Armstrong.
Friends may visit the family on Monday, November 16th, 2015 from 5pm until 8pm at Smith Funeral Chapel in Smithland. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 17th, 2015 at 1pm at Smith Funeral Chapel with Brother Michael Jacobs officiating. Friends may also visit on Tuesday from 11am until the funeral hour. Burial will follow at Oakgrove Cemetery in Ledbetter.
The family would like to list the following scripture from 2 Timohty 4:7-8 as appropriately describing Doug. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
