Biography



Katherine “Little Maw” Rednour, 82 of Smithland passed away at 4:38am Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City.

Katherine was the retired owner of J & J Grocery in Smithland. The oldest attending member of Smithland Pentacostal Church, she earned her high school G.E.D. while in her 70’s. She was an active member of the Livingston County Senior Citizens Center and the Livingston County Homemakers, and was very involved in volunteer service to her community.

Katherine loved to quilt and sew, but she will be most fondly remembered by her family as a loving and proud grandmother who took an active role in the lives and activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughter, Carol (Bobby) Thompson of Calvert City; her stepdaughter, Bessie Mathis of Paducah; one brother, Huey (Louise) Hall of Chicago; and two sisters, Mamie Jones of Smithland and Edna Mae Ramage of Ledbetter. Her grandchildren are Tracie McGregor, Danny Hampton, Carrie McGregor, and Andy Matherne; her great grandchildren are Destiny Hampton, Kyle Hampton and Gracelyn Anna Katherine Matherne. Katherine also left behind numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Rednour; two sisters, Maxine Paris and Jackie Hall; one brother, Howard Hall; one stepdaughter, Mary Etta Powell; and two stepsons, Thomas and Russell Rednour. Her parents were James and Gertrude Hall.

Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday at Smith Funeral Chapel in Smithland, with Bro. Cary Cowell officiating. Interment will be at Cothran Cemetery in Livingston County.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, at the funeral home.
