Orval M. Borders, 87, of Benton, formerly of Livingston County, died at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
He was a retired inspector for General Motors in Willow Run, Mich., with 34 years of service, and a member of Hamlet Baptist Church in Marshall County and Smithland Masonic Lodge 138.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Louise Livingston Carrigan Borders; one daughter, Judith Borders-Zeller of Gladwin, Mich.; three sons, James Borders of Tiline, Van Borders of Smithland and Michael Borders of Texas; two stepdaughters, Nancy Wetherington of Brookport, Ill., and Ann Bishop of Paducah; two stepsons, Jimmy Carrigan of Brookport and Billy Carrigan of Illinois; one sister, Virginia Borders Whittaker of Benton; one brother, Jack Borders of Benton; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rusaw and Mary Burns Borders; one son, Robin Borders; and his first wife, Edith Flanery Borders.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral Chapel in Smithland with the Rev. Jack Studie officiating. Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens in Westland, Mich.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Sunday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. today.
