Thomas Downs

Thomas Ethridge Downs, 83, of Smithland died Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Paducah.
Mr. Downs was a retired Water Plant Operator in Smithland.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Jean McDonald Downs of Smithland; three sons, Billy Downs of Smithland, John T. Downs of Smithland, and Kenny Downs of Marion, Ky.; three daughters, Linda Lasher of Jeffersonville, Ind., Beverly Shaffer of Smithland, and Sherri Hopkins of Paducah; two brothers, Jimmy Downs of Salem and Gordon Downs of Thailand; four sisters, Wanda Turner of Smithland, Pat Hunt of Eddyville, Marilyn Gish of Ledbetter, and Shirley Grimes of Salem; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Zel Downs and Treva Bell Downs.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Smith Funeral Chapel, with Bro. Fred Lowrance and Pastor Brad Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Smithland Cemetery.
Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the funeral hour at Smith Funeral Chapel in Smithland.
