Glendell “Hungry” Gordon, 84, of Smithland, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Southgate Nursing and Rehab in Metropolis surrounded by his family.
Mr. Gordon was a farmer and a heavy equipment operator. In his spare time he enjoyed shooting guns. He attended Cave Spring General Baptist and Second Baptist Church of Smithland.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane Gordon; two sons, Glenn (Laura) Gordon of Salem and Craig (Mindy) Gordon of Smithland; one daughter, Rhonda (Junior) Brown of Smithland; one sister; seven grandchildren, Kayla Brown, Kari Garner, Sarah Gordon, Zebulon Gordon, Johnson Gordon, Jordan Miller and Amanda Miller; and three great grandchildren, Ethan Garner, Lilly Garner, and Emory Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Bertha Gordon; one brother, Wendell Gordon; two sisters, Janice Hendrickson and Joette Gordon, one granddaughter, Ashley Brown; and one great-granddaughter, Ella Garner.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Smith Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tony Jennings and Rev. David Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Tiline Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the funeral home.
